Lisa's objective is to teach her students the fundamental skills of pencil drawing during the first 4 week session. After which they may explore the mediums of colored pencil, pen and ink, acrylics, and watercolors.
Being satisfied with the end result of your labor is the most important thing, not speed and prolific production of artwork. It is important to set realistic expectations. No drawing is "perfect".... but you will improve your skills and knowledge with each drawing that you complete. Students will also increase their problem solving skills, ability to 'see' and concentrate, and learn that through hard work and perserverance they can create a satisfying work of art.
In the student's first 4 classes they will be working on the following lessons:
1. Shapes and Shading - Learn how using different values in your drawing will help your drawing to look 3 dimensional.
2. Animal Study - Learn to draw using shapes. Work on drawing your chosen animal proportionally correct, and learn to draw textures such as hair, wrinkles, scales, etc, in addition to bringing out the animal's personality and expression.
3. Perspective - Learn to create believable depth in your drawing. The student will draw a country road with a barbed wire fence running alongside. Afterwards, the student will add elements to the drawing to build a pleasing composition and further illustrate the perspective in the drawing.
4. Choice - The student will choose the subject matter for this drawing.
There is a $25 charge for the beginning supply pack. All Classes are 1 hour in length and for anyone age 7 and up.
Colored pencils are puchased after the student completes beginning drawing. Colored pencil supplies will cost $25.
